Dental implants are screws that are surgically implanted into the jawbone. These screws have been used to replace a missing tooth in the mouth and are made of titanium due to it is a element that works best with the human body. It is also possible to place multiple implants at once. There are also permanent and removable versions available. What is a Dental Implant?

An implant is a titanium replica of the tooth roots inserted into the jawbone. Dental implants are used to replace the patient’s existing crown in the mouth. The dental implant’s screws are installed with one inside the gingiva and the other inside the inserted crown. In this way, the patient’s mouth receives one or more new crowns.

Dental implants serve a life-saving purpose for the people who use them. Because of this procedure, the patient’s missing or decayed tooth is perfectly filled with a crown. Therefore, if you have a condition that results in total tooth loss, get in touch with us to get a dental implant. Akar Dental will provide you the best personalized treatment solutions.

Dental implants, which can be applied in single and multiple ways, allow the patient to eat without discomfort, unlike other dental treatment methods. Since there is no gap between the crown and the gingiva, it becomes easier to maintain oral hygiene.

We provide dental implant service to our patients who apply to our clinic for a white and healthy tooth appearance to compensate for jawbone losses, gum difficulties, and tooth losses. Our patients can benefit from painless dental implant treatment through general anesthesia, local anesthesia, and sedation.

Types of Dental Implant Treatment

The types of dental implants in Turkey vary depending on how many crowns will be added and the texture. However, the most commonly used types of implants are:

  • Endosteal
  • Subperiosteal
  • Zygomatic

Endosteal implants are the most preferred method when in Turkey. Endosteal implants, which are placed on the jawbone and have a height that goes up along the gum until the new crown is added, are used to treat people with healthy gums or jawbones.

A subperiosteal implant is sometimes preferred depending on the condition of the tissue. If the patient’s gums, especially jaw bones, are not strong enough for implant application, implant placement is performed on the jawbone.

The zygomatic implant is a more complex method to do implants. Unlike other implant methods, this implant technique, which is strengthened by using the cheekbones, is preferred in cases where the maxilla bones are insufficient.

At Akar Dental, we take great pride in providing our patients with the highest level care, and we provide a variety of anesthesia options, including general anesthesia with a qualified anesthesiologist staff in the operating room, sedation anesthesia, and local anesthesia. In order to make sure that our patients are comfortable and understood during treatment, we also offer personal translators.

We make it simple for our patients to receive top-notch dental care in one location by housing 14 clinics within the same building. Furthermore, our prices are reasonable and 60–70% less expensive than those in the USA and Europe. As part of our commitment to our patients, we offer a range of additional services, including premium accommodation, VIP transfers, and the possibility of an amazing holiday package.

Also, the types of implant applications are named depending on how many units are applied. You can examine these methods and their differences through the table below:

  • The suitability of treatment depends on the patient's bone structure.

All-On-6 Dental Implants

It involves a procedure that contains six dental implants to fix the tooth loss.

  • Easy to clean

  • Easy healing process

  • Improved eating

  • Not ideal for everyone

  • The patient's bone structure must be appropriate for the treatment to be feasible.

Dental Implants Process

Dental Implants Process - Turkey - AntalyaBefore the dental implant is made, it is checked whether the patient is suitable for the procedure in our clinic. The procedure is initiated, if it is determined that the patient is suitable for the implant. In general, the dental implant application, for patients to be able to have dental permanent crowns, the specific healing process is needed taking 4-6 months.

The reason for why the healing period has a crucial role in the treatment process may be explained as the after placement of an implant, the jawbone and implants must fuse with each other. After the placement process is completed, waiting a certain time for the implant to knit together with the jawbone is necessary.

To complete the treatment, the patient must visit our clinic 2 or 3 times including the visit of implant placement, and crown placement after the healing period. The increase in the patient’s clinic visits may be occurred due to the following conditions:

  • – Sinus Congestion
  • – Inappropriate bone structure
  • – Gum Disease

In clinic visits, which are sufficient to be performed twice, the process of adding zirconium crown to the implant is performed after a 4-6-month recovery period after the first procedure.

In general, the procedure performed on a patient with healthy jawbone tissue consists of the following 7 stages:

  1. Consultation: The consultation and treatment planning stage involves an evaluation of the patient’s oral health and discussion of the treatment plan, including the type and number of implants needed, and the timeline for the procedure.
  2. Tooth Extraction,Bone graft and other procedures: If tooth extraction is necessary, it will be done prior to the implant placement. If necessary, sinus lifting and bone graft procedures can also be performed during this stage.
  3. Implant Placement: The dentist or specialist will surgically place the implant into the jawbone. The implant, typically made of titanium, is surgically placed into the jawbone.
  4. Healing Period: The jawbone will need time to heal and fuse with the implant, which is also called osseointegration. Healing process can take several weeks to several months.During this 3-6 month period, fixed or removable prosthetic teeth can be provided to our patients to restore their aesthetic appearance.
  5. Abutment Placement: Once the implant has fused with the bone, an abutment will be placed on top of the implant. This part connects the implant to the replacement tooth.
  6. Placement of the Replacement Tooth: The replacement tooth, such as a crown, bridge, or denture, is then placed on top of the abutment.
  7. Follow-Up Visits: Follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor the healing process and ensure the implant is functioning properly. We provide aftercare services to our patients during the 3-6 month process. Our patients can contact us at any time and receive doctor support. This helps prevent any potential negative outcomes during the recovery period.

In the last stage, procedures are performed on the aesthetic appearance of the crown. If needed, antibiotic and medication support to enhance the healing process under doctor supervision is also provided to support the patient’s immune system.

What is Bone Grafting?

Bone grafting is a procedure whose characteristics are applied to patients with dental implants and involves the transfer of healthy tissues in the patient’s mouth to the tissue within a disease. It is possible to mention a rate above 95% when answering the “What is the success rate of bone grafts?” question. Because the added tissue is obtained from the patient’s mouth, there is no incompatible situation.

Bone graft is used in the cases of bone resorption, bone deficiency, and tissue incompatibility listed above. With the right treatment and good dental care, bone grafts remain in the tooth for a lifetime, just like implants. Bone grafting is used in tooth loss, gum disease, or extraction cases. While these conditions are found, if the bone graft procedure is not performed, bone healing does not occur correctly and in a controlled manner. Thus, a tooth structure unsuitable for the dental implant process is formed.

Both the upper and lower jaws may benefit from bone grafting. Bone resorption occurs directly in the lower jaw and can be treated with a bone graft procedure. However, in the upper jaw, the sinus areas that should normally be located below the lower eyelids may sag towards the upper jaw bone as we age, causing pressure on the upper jaw bone and bone loss.

In this case, a sinus lifting procedure (either open sinus or closed sinus, as determined by the surgeon based on the patient’s specific condition) is performed. Sinus lifting can only be done in the upper jaw. In cases of sinus sagging, the patient undergoes a sinus lifting procedure first, followed by a bone graft procedure to strengthen the area where bone loss has occurred before implant placement.

Sinus Lifting Procedure

Sinis Lifting, also known as “sinus augmentation,” is a dental surgical procedure that involves the addition of bone to the upper jaw near the premolars and molars. This is done to create more bone height and support for dental implants in cases where natural bone has been lost due to periodontal disease, tooth loss, or other factors.

The maxillary sinus is located above the premolars and molars in the upper jaw and can sometimes expand as the natural bone deteriorates. In order to perform sinus lifting, a small opening must be made in the sinus membrane, which must then be gently raised upward before the opening is filled with bone graft material.

An open sinus lift involves making a larger incision in the gum tissue and removing a portion of the maxillary bone to create a direct view of and access to the sinus. The sinus membrane is then lifted, and bone graft material is placed in the area to increase bone height and provide support for dental implants. This type of surgery is typically used when the patient has significant bone loss and requires a more extensive procedure to create a stable foundation for dental implants.

A smaller gum tissue incision is made during a closed sinus lift, and a tiny access hole is made in the bone to accommodate the insertion of a specialized instrument. The membrane is gently pushed upward by this tool, and bone graft material is then added through the access hole to increase the height of the bone and provide support for dental implants. This type of surgery is typically used when the patient has less severe bone loss and requires a less invasive procedure.

What Should Not Be Done After Implant Surgery?

After having a dental implant in Turkey, patients should not consume products that will damage the crown. Avoiding acidic foods or drinks and taking a break from smoking for a while are among the things that must be done after the procedure. In addition, we recommend that our patients who have had dental implants in our clinic aftercare instructions  to be able to benefit on maximum level from the dental treatment.

After the implant procedure, the effect of the anesthesia applied before the procedure disappears over time. For this reason, pain may occur in the jawbone for several days. Your doctor will recommend painkillers if necessary. Situations such as the following that will exert pressure on the areas where the surgery is performed should be avoided:

  • Wiping the nose harshly
  • Eating quickly and carelessly
  • Closing the nose when sneezing

In addition, patients should rest using double pillows after the procedure. Precautions should be taken to prevent pressure from being applied to the nose and mouth during sleep. After the implant procedure, ice should be applied to the operation area for three days in order to prevent any swelling.

In addition, the consumption of very cold and very hot products should be avoided. Soft-textured foods such as soup and pasta should be preferred during the healing process. Since your products will directly affect the jawbone, we ask our patients to show sensitivity.

What are the Advantages of a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are advantageous in appearance and compared to other dental insertion treatments. The crown inserted through the implants becomes completely adjacent to the gum and crown root.

Thus, there is no gingival sensitivity or a gap between the crown and the root of the crown. This condition guarantees that patients will not experience any inconvenience caused by dental implants during their daily lives. The advantages of having an implant inserted into the mouth are listed below:

Fluent Speech

Crown placed later in the mouth can sometimes cause issues with speech. Implants do not cause any dislocation or sliding condition. Thus, patients can speak fluently without encountering difficulties after having dental implants installed in our clinic.

Crown added through the implant do not cause issues such as lisping or impediment in speech. Patients can speak easily and fluently from the first day of the operation.

Excellent Dental Appearance

The new crown added through the implants is ultra-white and in perfect shape. In this way, if patients lack teeth in the mouth, that procedure can fix this issue. The new crown fits perfectly into your mouth and jaw structure and fulfills your self-confidence.

Easy Hygiene

Since the added crown does not have a rough structure, it can be easily brushed using a toothbrush. For this reason, oral hygiene can be provided in a very short time correctly and practically.

Rapid Recovery

After having a dental implant, patients can quickly return to their daily lives. There are no obstacles to eating or talking except for the aches that may occur in the jaw bones after the procedure.

Patients in our clinic who receive implants feel refreshed and more confident since they no longer experience chewing problems and have a more attractive smile. Therefore, the quality of life they have and their self-confidence increase.

The Advantage of Lifetime Usage

Since there is no deterioration or fracture situation in any way, dental implants provide the advantage of long-lasting use. In addition, since implants are manufactured using high-quality materials suitable for the mouth’s structure, such as titanium, the expected life of the implant is very long.

Prevention of Periodontitis and Gum Disease

The treatments to make dental implants viable treat periodontitis, that is, the loss of alveolar bones around the tooth, and gum disease. Thanks to dental implants, these conditions are eliminated while at the same time preventing the occurrence of the following years.

Our goal at Akar Dental is to give each patient the highest quality dental care. Our mission is to go above and beyond their expectations and assist them in achieving stunning, healthy smiles that will last a lifetime.

In addition, depending on the suitability of the bones and their specific structures of our patients for implant treatment, we determine the best treatment methods by agreeing with our patient.

Implants are a better choice due to their convenience in the postoperative process and easy healing. Also, implants do not need to be taken out while sleeping.

Dental implants are applied permanently. For this reason, they can be used for a lifetime thanks to regular checkups once a year or six months.

Although rare, dental implants can fall out if they are not placed correctly. At the same time, implant failure may occur due to various health conditions, such as osteolysis. After the dental implant is inserted, annual controls make possible situations preventable or controllable. This condition may occur due to poor post-procedure care or the failure of the patient’s jaw structure to fuse with the implant.

It is possible to apply implants for the front teeth or many teeth. An implant can be applied to the front teeth in the lower and upper jaw.

There are no disadvantages to having a dental implant, except that a slight pain is felt during the one-month period after treatment.

Typically, 3-4 crowns can be created using an implant with bridge techniques.

Due to gum disease or improper jawbone structure, removing all the teeth and replacing them with an implant application is possible. On the other hand, if the patient’s tooth structure is intact, a cap is recommended more likely instead of an implant.

The dental implant is performed by applying different types of anesthesia techniques including general, local or sedation in our clinic. For this reason, no pain is felt during peeing. Pain may be felt for about a month after implant treatment. If deemed necessary by the doctor, the application of antibiotics or analgesics is initiated.

A few hours after the dental operation, with the decrease in the effect of anesthesia, patients become fit to eat. Patients can eat a few hours after the procedure but they have to stay away from very hot, very cold, or acidic foods. Foods with a soft texture should be preferred.

You can use dental implants for a lifetime. The service life of the implant may vary depending on the material used, the correct choice of doctor, the correct selection of the implant to be used, and whether the implant is placed properly. It is enough for patients with dental implant treatment to ensure regular doctor checks and take good care of the implants to be used for a lifetime.

The first stage of the dental implant can be performed within an average of 15- 20 minutes for each implant. If the patient’s health conditions are favorable, several implants are applied over 1-3 days. In All-on-4 and All-on-6 treatments, it takes 5-7 days to complete the process. Treatment is completed by making 2 or 3 clinic visits depending on the suitability of the patient’s bone structure. The treatment requiring two clinic visits takes 3-6 months to be completed, while the procedure requiring three visits can be completed in 1 year.

Akar Dental offers the best service in Turkey regarding dental tourism due to its technology, expert medical staff, and customer-friendly pricing options.

The duration of implant treatment is determined according to the type of dental implant treatment and the number of clinic visits required. If the patient wants 1-2 implants and the jaw structure and gums suit this procedure, the treatment can be completed in a day.

The tooth extraction procedure, which is required before the implant procedure, is performed overnight.

The correct implant selection is determined in accordance with the patient’s wishes and as a result of the doctor’s decisions.

Full-mouth dental implants, single implant crowns, and non-surgical implants connect with custom-designed crowns to create a smile makeover technique using zirconium raw materials.
Treatment options are based on the suitability and preferences of the patient, using the most suitable materials for treatment, zirconium crown, titanium, etc., is performed.

Bone grafting is not required if the bone structure is suitable for dental implants. On the other hand, it is found that a minimum of 50.3% of the applications made to patients require bone graft operation.
